Voice Repeaters

The Anchorage Amateur Radio Club supports a large network of voice repeaters in Southcentral Alaska. The club's VHF/UHF Committee is responsible for installation, maintenance, and operation of the system.  The AARC Voice Repeater network is open to any properly licensed amateur radio operator.

IRLP is currently not allowed on any KL7AA owned repeater systems. Please see the attached referenced document:  IRLP and AARC

On repeaters with autopatch capability, emergency communications is immediately available by entering "*911".

These are some other amateur repeaters currently in operation in our local area:

147.51 MHz - D-STAR (WL7CWI)

There is no "tone" used in D-STAR for repeater access. The user must specify the local repeater callsign and port to access the repeater. The port is always the eigth character after the callsign. Port A is for 23 cm,. Port B is for 67 cm, Port C is for 2 m, and Port G is the local gateway to other zones.

Example: to access the 2 m port, "RPT1" is set to WL7CWI C. RPT2 is not currently used as there is no gateway or other ports on the repeater at present.

D-STAR uses GMSK digital modulation and as such cannot share a channel with analog FM. The GMSK detector will not decode FM, and FM radios will only hear digital noise when a D-STAR station transmits. Hence, it's a good idea for digital voice mode and FM modes to avoid using the same channels.
